I also really liked In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan.  It&amp;#39;s kind of a continuation of the Omnivore&amp;#39;s Dilemma.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another book I just read that you might like is Farm City by Novella Carpenter.  She has an urban farm in downtown Oakland, CA including bees, chickens, and pigs. DH loves that book, but it overwhelmed me. I got all excited last week when I heard pollan wrote a Young Readers version of the book appropriate for Middle Schoolers!! I&amp;#39;m going to read that one!! LOL! It&amp;#39;s an easy read but full of information. &lt;br /&gt;Nourishing Traditions is a really great book as well but it is a little overwhelming. I, too, picked up The Omnivore&amp;#39;s Dilemma and while I found it interesting, I couldn&amp;#39;t finish it.  I will need to try it again.
