Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had a safe celebration last night. Here are my goals for the new year:
Personal
- Keep up my working out – hoping for a minimum of 3 times a week, plus daily walks with Ralphie.
- Do my back exercises more often.
Financial
- Track our spending for the entire year. I have a spreadsheet set up and ready to go.
- Spend less money on clothing and gifts. This might be hard with 4 growing kids, but I can try, right?
- Turn my library books in on time to avoid the fines. Ugh, I just looked and have $9.30 right now.
- Replenish our Freedom Account. We are very low in car repair, household, kids, pets and gymnastics.
- Increase our EF by $1000.
Blogging
- ??? I am currently trying to figure out the direction I want to go with this blog. I have been blogging for 6 years now and I guess I am kind of at a loss as to how to continue. Some weeks it is just 1 more thing on my to-do list that never gets done. Anything in particular that you want to see here?

Hi and Happy New Year! I enjoy reading about people’s every day life and how they make it all work.
Why did you start your blog? Maybe you should write 1 or 2 articles a week to give you more time to do other things.
I would love to see how you chart your spending. My husband and I are trying to claw our way out of debt and can use all the encouragement we can get!!
we alway have to face changes, but you will always try to live a frugal life and share those triumphs and failures, you inspire and help so many….may be just a monthly update? hugs
I love reading other people’s life story. I like the budget stuff, but I like reading about your family, and what you do day to day to “get ahead”. I feel like I am always trying to stretch myself as a wife and mother. I am always trying new things to strech my money, our food, etc. I like to hear what others are doing to meet their own personal challenges.
I love your blog as it is! I am always encouraged and inspired when I stop by here. That said, if your family needs mean this is on the back burner then that’s just the way it has to be for a while. I am always thrilled with your no-spend month goals. I’m trying to get the courage to do that, too. Not that we have piles of discretionary money, anyway. I also like to hear about your budget method. I think that is a novel approach, to basically budget for every payday. I think it is a good idea.
