Last night I spent some time reflecting on my goals, my life, my health, etc. It is nice to have a fresh slate to start from. I asked the kids what their goals were for the year.
Michael - To get straight A’s.
Emma - To think before I speak or act and to make better decisions. (I am SO stealing this one!)
Luke - To never sort laundry again. This is his regular chore LOL. He is a pretty smart kid. But I told him he couldn’t have that one and that a goal is something to improve. So he quickly said he wanted to improve his fighting. Yeah, we need to go over this again I think.
Claire - nothing – I don’t think she things she needs to improve anything.
Kevin doesn’t set goals or resolutions. He thinks they are pointless. So that leaves me.
Here are my goals for 2012.
- Improve my posture, strengthen my core and heal my back. I am lumping them all together because they go hand-in-hand.
- To think before I speak or act and to make better decisions.
- Shop second-hand more often. I want the second-hand market to become the first thought in my head when I want to buy something.
- Use more coupons. Again, I want to always check to see if we have coupons before spending money and make sure we get the best deal.
- Save the money to pay cash for Emma’s braces this summer.
- Focus more on this blog and grow the readership.
I have some exciting things planned for this year for Getting Ahead. I am excited to start focusing more on finances here as well as getting back to the basics with frugal tips. I have a lot of ideas and plan on posting much more often. I hope you will join me in the comments!
