Recovering

Five out of six of us are currently recovering from some terrible stomach bug. I put my ham in the oven (large enough to feed 16 people, who would be descending on my house in just 2 hours) at 2:00 pm yesterday. At 2:30 Emma started vomiting, with Kevin following shortly. Not sure what to do, but with the rest of us feeling OK, I continued to make a large dinner. My parents and sister's family opted NOT to come though, so here I was making a huge meal for just 4 people.

At 5:30 as we ate we sat around contemplating how it was going to taste coming back up. By 8:00 we knew. Now, I have a 9 pound ham sitting in my fridge, with all the fixings and believe me - NO ONE wants to eat it. Ugh. At some point I will muster the energy to freeze it all, but right now, between naps, I am saving my energy for laundry. There was little sleep happening last night with 5 people fighting for 2 bathrooms.

It never really felt like Christmas anyway, so I guess it is fitting that it happened, ruining what small amount of family time we were going to get (my parents leave tomorrow). I just want to take my tree down and put everything away and move on to next year. I am having lots of time to contemplate the new year. So far my resolutions (goals really) are to not have any hospitalizations or surgeries (this is already broken though, since Michael is having one on the 11th) and also to not get sick so frequently. Maybe we got it all out of our system in 2009. Do you think that is possible? I hope everyone else had a MUCH better holiday than we did.

I'm sorry. We've had the same thing at our house, but we've managed to spread it out over a two week period. I'm not sure which is better. :) My husband is down now, but we did manage to have everyone well on Christmas Day itself. I hope you are all better soon. My kids bounced back very quickly. I took a little longer. My husband just had surgery a few weeks ago, so I hate that he did end up getting it. Sometimes you just have to hope for better times ahead!

I'm sorry you all have been so ill. It seems like everyone is getting this bug.

Hope your family is on the mend and 2010 brings in a fresh start!
