I can't wait for this week to be over! That sounds bad, but it is Kevin's last week of softball. They were supposed to be done last week, but with so many canceled games because of weather they are going an extra week. Which means, softball season is overlapping with his busiest time of year. Every year he grades papers for the International Baccalaureate program. He did a batch in April that coincided perfectly with his spring break. But last week he received almost 300 tests he has to grade within 3 weeks, on top of his regular schoolwork and replacing our roof. To say he is stressed beyond belief to still have softball practice and games going on is an understatement.
I did however get a wonderful Mother's Day present. With my surgeries and not being able to do much with my hand, especially cleaning, I had fallen behind on the regular cleaning stuff AND had not done any deep cleaning at all this spring like I normally do. I had barely been able to do the bare minimum for so long. Kevin's parents will be here this weekend and my parents and brother will be coming for a week a few days later. This place needed a good cleaning. So Kevin and the kids went to work and cleaned most of the house for me yesterday. Kevin even washed windows! The front porch is clean thanks to Emma and Michael helped me wash all the rocking chairs. I still have a few things to take care of this week and of course the regular stuff, but I am feeling so much more in control now. And it didn't cost anyone a dime. Yay!
Here is our menu plan.
Sunday - homemade pizza, I really wanted to order pizza, but I talked myself out of it and made homemade instead
Monday - tator tot casserole, leftover focaccia bread and peas. (Emma will have leftover pasta) I will have this ready in the oven, with the timer set to cook it while we are at baseball practice. When we all walk in the door at 7, dinner will basically be ready.
Tuesday - kielbasa, rice pilaf and veggies
Wednesday - chicken, potatoes and carrots in the crock pot, applesauce
Thursday - picnic at the baseball game, probably sandwiches
Friday - pork chops, stuffing balls, green beans
Saturday - TBD, it is Michael's birthday and he has requested a Key Lime Pie. I will also make cupcakes for his baseball team and I have some cupcakes in the freezer for Emma, so that will be easy. Kevin's parents will still be here and I need to ask him what he wants to eat for dinner. Unfortunately it will probably be cheese soup LOL he always requests that.
