Assigning a spot for your money

It seems that we have so many things that we need to be saving money for. A new car, a new roof, a new driveway, etc. Aside from those things, we also need to be boosting our car repair account - a lot. As we learned last year when older cars need repair it can be very costly. Currently we have about $600 in the car repair account and I would like that to be at least $2000. Kevin's car also needs to be replaced soon - probably this year. We need to build these accounts up a lot in just a few months.

But what is the best way to save up for all of these things? Especially when the regular budget doesn't have enough in it to cover the extra savings we need. Throughout the year we have other sources of income that are sporadic. Sometimes it is small amounts like adsense money. Sometimes it is large amounts like a tax refund. Having a plan for this "extra" money is the best way for us to meet our goals.

The tax refund will go towards the roof mainly, however whatever is left will go towards the new car. Money I make through hubpages will boost the car repair account. Adsense money will go towards a new car. By assigning this extra money ahead of time we will not be tempted to spend it unwisely without thinking. There will be no saving whatever is left after a shopping spree. Also by assigning money a certain spot to go I can steadily save for the things that we need to save for, but can't save for within our regular budget. This definitely gives us a mental boost.

If you find that you are not able to save for something out of your regular budget, assigning the extra money towards these goals will definitely add up in the long run. And knowing that you are doing something towards your goals will be very encouraging.

I first visited your blog, but my antispyware said that he is infected with an unknown virus.
I deleted the virus through this AntiSpyWare.
The virus does not manifest itself but gradually destroys information on the computer.
