Works for me!
Summer library reading programs always work for me. Most libraries have these programs. The requirements are that the child reads either a certain number of pages, books, or days. If the child is too young to read, a parent can read to them. Libraries offer a number of incentives to entice children to read and participate in the program. My kids always love to be involved in this and beg to go to the library to pick up more books and their next prize. And hey, it keeps them involved in a quiet activity inside during the heat of the day for at least 15 minutes. LOL 15 minutes of peace definitely works for me!

We are doing this too. I love our library. The boys think it is the biggest treat to get new books. The librarians love them because they get so excited.
I have the best memories of summer reading programs from my childhood! This summer I'm thinking I'll participate with my two-year-old. It will be a good reminder/incentive for me to read to him.
