Square Foot Gardening works for me.

I finally have pictures of our garden. Square foot gardening is new to us, but so far we are loving it. Having raised beds is so much easier than having to dig down into the earth, amend the soil, and till up the dirt. So much easier! We are also doing this organically. So I have scattered in some marigolds to help keep the bugs away. We also plan on releasing lady bugs into the garden mid summer when the plants are higher.
What we have planted.
corn - lots of it
cucumbers 4
pumpkin
watermelon
tomatoes 6
cherry tomatoes 2
lettuce
radishes
carrots
garlic (yummy and will help keep pests away)
basil (yummy and will help keep pests away)
marilgolds
potatoes - lots of them
onion
I think that is it. I have never grown so much in a garden before. In CO we had a much larger garden, yet couldn't have grown this much. We are going to trellese the cucumbers to save on space. I can't wait for it to start producing and I anxiously check each day to see if seeds have popped up. Square foot gardening definitely works for me!

I love this! I tried to prepare some soil here last spring but it was just so rocky and hard that I could never really get it "good enough." A friend is giving me a tomato plant which I am growing in a pot, but I really like the looks of this. And thanks for the tips about marigolds and garlic keeping the bugs away!

Maybe you're already familiar with it, but it sounds like you would really appreciate this book. I'd definitely recommend it to you!
